It's all about Family...

What happens when you get 18 and 1/2 grandkids, 6 siblings, 6 in-laws, and 2 amazing parents/grandparents together?
This:

This week Matt's entire arranged to get together. A brother drove in from Spokane; another from Pleasant Grove, and the baby brother came from Logan; all with wives and kids in tow. It was a cousins wonderland!! My kids LOVED playing with their cousins. Sadie especially loved playing with her cousin Rachel, whom she doesn't get to see very often, and there's VERY few girl cousins. In fact, from the moment Rachel arrived, the two walked hand in hand EVERYWHERE. It was the most adorable thing ever. Sadie's first words every morning this week were, "When is Rachel coming today?" Sadie even loved playing with Rachel's big sister Alli. The girls seemed to stick together....so adorable.
The main reason for the big party? The littlest brother is graduating from college. WAY TO GO BIG JAKE!!! Jake is headed off to become active duty in the army. This summer he's going for helicopter pilot training. So we probably won't get to see much of these cute faces for a while....

After a fun dinner and lots of visiting, all 6 kids with their spouses and Matt's parents, went to a temple session together. It was so great to be there with everyone. And a special thanks to all the babysitters who helped out that evening so the adults could all go. At my house, my AMAZING sisters Danielle and Larena and Danielle's "friend" Ethan, watched 8 kids. Yep, they are amazing. I came home to find the house clean, toys picked up, and all the kids in their jammies. Thanks sistas!

While some people have troubling in-law issues, I have to say, I've got the best in-laws EVER!! Thanks Mom G. (and Jake) for organizing, planning, and hosting a memorable evening! Love you!

Temple Gallery

If you are looking for the perfect Mother's Day gift, consider a beautiful print of the temple...

I can also add your family's name and the year you were married. The options are endless.

There are TONS to choose from and I'll be adding more later this week.

RE

Sadie has been doing this funny thing with her words lately. She is adding "re" to a bunch of her words. Examples:

"Mom? Can I play my game on the "re"puter?"

"Mom, I don't want gravy on my "re"tatoes."

"It's time for bed, I put my "re" jammas on now."

And yesterday, I had to laugh. We were getting ready to go to Spencer's soccer game and she insisted on bringing her little backpack.

I kept telling her, "Sadie, come on. We need to go. Just leave it here and you can play with it when we get back." She refused.

At the game I found out why. She sat down in the chair to watch the game and opened up her backpack. The entire backpack was filled with chocolate kisses! She must have collected them from the Easter candy jar and dumped the entire bowl into her bag.

I told her, "So, that's why you wanted your backpack."

Sadie replied, "Yeah, I just needed a little snack."

Thanks Easta Bunny!

The Easter Bunny visited our house on Saturday. Somehow he knew that we had church at 9am and decided Saturday would be the perfect day to leave eggs to hunt.

The kids had to hunt for their baskets first, before they could start collecting eggs. It didn't take long for them to find their baskets and hunt for their assigned color. The Easter Bunny knows how everything has to be fair at our house, so everyone got the same amount of eggs. We wouldn't want any quibbling on this fun day!

My favorite part of the day was cracking open each egg and seeing the delightful, sugary goodness that lay inside. Robin Eggs, full size and mini; Starburst jelly beans, tropical and regular flavors; Brach's jelly beans; and not my favorite, but the kids LOVE Krabby Patty's.

The Easter Bunny even left the movie Bolt and a Dora movie which had to be immediately opened and enjoyed.

Following the movie, it was off to the next Easter event....Grandma's house!! It's the annual Easter Picnic! What's better than Grandma's potato salad? NOTHING!

Grandma arranged for a fun egg hunt around the yard. Two separate hunts...one for the older kids and one for the younger kids. Yes, the family is getting that big...18 and 1/2 grand kids now! Thank you Grandma for the best egg hunt in town!

The following day on the real Easter, we woke up to sunny, blue skies and beautiful spring flowers. We had a great time at church...well..especially me. I got to sit in the choir seats, so I could actually hear the meeting..yay! Easter Sunday is always one of my favorites at church.
After church it was home for a little photo shoot. You'd think my kids would get used to the fact that I love to take pictures. I'm just like everyone else and have to bribe them. This time it was bribing them with their chance at taking pictures with the "big camera". After I took some pictures of them, Spencer and Ethan took turns and took pictures of me. They turned out pretty good! I think we might have some future photographers in the house! Daddy is a little camera shy, but hopefully we'll catch him off guard and get a great picture of him sometime!!!

Overall, it was a great Easter weekend. Now it's time to work off all the yummy candy!!!

Cub Scouts 'N Stuff...

So I'm a little behind in blogging about Cub Scouts. So put your uniforms on and sew on your badges....(or stick them on with double sided super strong tape...that's what I use...)

Spencer earned his Bear! YAY! And yes, it' a lot of work on a mom to make sure their son receives the award. I do want to point out that Spencer actually finished his award 2 months BEFORE his birthday even though the award was presented 1 month after his birthday. (For those of you scouting moms out there, you know it's a big deal.)

Spencer is pinning on the Bear award to the necklace thing I have. He was really cute because he gets really embarrassed when the spotlight is on him. I am proud of myself, oh I mean Spencer, for remembering to attend scouts every week, participate in camps, earn awards and pass off everything required in each book. Well done son!!
This next area of cub scouting I can't take any credit for. Except to nag and bother Matt to get it done. And it is the one and only....This was our first year participating in a derby because for some reason our ward hasn't done it for a couple of years. We were all pretty excited about this event; especially Spencer.
Matt and Spencer worked for about a week, designing and planning and sanding and assembling. I was in charge of paint. Cool. Spray with a spray can. Let dry for a day. Tape off design. Spray again. Done. And this is how the car turned out...
presenting car number 22...

Ready to RACE!!!!
The good news and the bad news....
So the good news is, Spencer's car DID NOT take last place! YAY!! And doesn't it look so cool at the top of the track?
The bad news is good 'ol number 22 didn't win any heats. But that's ok...it was a dang good lookin' car!!
And away they go!!!
This is what it looked like at the bottom of the track. It was serious work to get the kids from sitting on the track!! They were all so excited!!! (And let's face it, so were all the parents)
Spencer did win an award....can you guess what it was???
If you guessed, "BEST PAINT JOB" you are RIGHT!! Spencer was super excited to get an award even if it wasn't first place!
Matt said he learned new tricks for next years derby with Ethan. Spencer will be too old!!!
It was sure fun to see Matt and Spencer spend so much time together. When those two get together, they feed jokes off each other and end up laughing so hard they're crying! Good times...
