A real fairy tale...

Once upon a time, a long, long, long time ago...

(clear back in the 90s...January 1996) there lived a fine young prince and a princess with a sweet spirit. The prince and the princess attended the proper school for prince and princess training. (Salt Lake Community College)

One day in school, the princess was working diligently at her "princess" duties and saw the prince out of the corner of her eye.
"Wow, " she thought. "What a fine looking prince. I wonder if a princess has spoken for him yet?" But how would the princess find out?

One day, the prince noticed the princess looking at him and gave a friendly smile. The princess was embarrassed and was trying to think of a way to talk to the prince without feeling so silly.

The perfect day came.... The prince was talking with a friend before school was to begin and the princess knew who he was talking to. The princess knew this was her chance to talk to the handsome prince she'd been watching for so many days in school. She sat in her seat and began talking with the prince's friend. The friend then properly introduced the prince to the princess.

"Finally," the princess thought, "I get to talk to him!"

The prince and princess would talk everyday before school began about different assignments, duties, and evening activities.

One day the princess was at home preparing for her much needed beauty sleep when her father called her into the room. "Princess," her father spoke, "there is a call for you."

"Hello?" said the princess.

"Hello," said the voice.
"Who is this?" the princess questioned.

"This is the prince, from school." the voice explained.

"Oh what a wonderful day!" thought the princess. "The prince has called!"

"How did you find me?" asked the princess.

"I found you in the giant book with lots of numbers," said the prince.

Wow, the prince had searched through pages and pages to find the princess and then call her. What a brave prince!

The prince and princess would talk for quite a while about many unimportant things. Then the prince would muster up courage and ask for an outing on the weekend with the princess. The princess immediately agreed trying not to sound too eager.

When would that special day come? It felt like such a long time (1 week) and then the day had arrived. (February 24, 1996)

The prince arrived to pick up the princess in the most beautiful carriage in all the land. (1988 Honda CRX) The princess was so impressed with how clean and tidy the carriage was and how the prince was so quick to get the princess' door.

After lunch at a delicious palace, (TGI Friday's) a long carriage ride through a beautiful canyon followed. (Little Cottonwood) The prince then drove the princess home, where the two decided on watching some entertainment. (Aladdin, the movie)

Alas, the day was through and the time had come for the prince to leave. A soft hug was given and goodbye's were said. The prince disappeared in his carriage.

What a beautiful day.

The prince and the princess could not stop thinking about the great day they spent together. They could not stop thinking about when the next day together, would come.

The princess knew something had to be done. The following day, she worked up her strength and courage and called the prince to see if he would like to visit once again. He agreed.

Every time the prince and princess were together it was like magic. The kind that only happens in fairy tales. Oh wait, this is a fairy tale, so just like that.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months and the prince and princess knew they would like to be married.

But first, the princess had a prior commitment, in a far away land, that she must attend to. (BYU-Hawaii) The prince was sad to see her go, but knew she would be back soon and the two could continue their plan. He gave the princess a beautiful gold band to wear so she would remember him while she was away. It worked. She remembered him every day.

It wasn't long before the princess was coming home. A grand reunion took place. (in the middle of the airport) There were flowers and tears. (And leis and shells) The prince and princess were in each others' arms again.

This would be the last time they would be apart. For only a few days later, (July 1st) the prince would get off his horse (literally) and get on one knee; clear below the princess' horse, (seriously, this really happened) and ask if she would be his wife for time and all eternity. The princess felt so happy and immediately shouted "YES!" And the two rode down the moonlit path back to the cabin.

It would only be two and a half months later that the special wedding day would come. (September 14, 1996)

And what a dreamy, perfect day it was. The prince looked so charming in his tuxedo and the princess had her hair styled so beautifully (at 4:30am). After the wonderful ceremony was performed, (by the prince's grandfather) a tender kiss was shared and later rings exchanged.

At the end of the day, the prince and princess greeted all of their guests and rode off into the night....

and they lived happily ever after.....

Happy 12th Anniversary to my prince charming....

Back in the old days we didn't have digital anything. (Cell phones were the size of large bricks, and they weighed that much too.) So try to overlook the lack of quality in these pictures...Someday I'll get my wedding negatives scanned, but for now...enjoy the trip down memory lane!

I love my prince!

Man Erin...that's SOME dress. That thing comes all the way down the temple steps!! And Matt looks like he's MAYBE 15 years old!!

Oh how time flies! I look at my wedding pictures and wonder when they started to look out of style, or when my skin became less tight.

It seems like the fairy tale took some weird turns, what with Wicked Witch Cancer and all her nasty spells! But I'm glad that you boiled her in a pot of Chemo...hey...this story thing is kinda kicky!

Congrats! You guys are great! Here's to 12 more! (Which will put you one shy of 25...then you'll really be old!!)

This is so cute Erin! I remember the night you got engaged...time flies! Congratulations on 12 years! Oh and those pictures...wow...I look so young.

Here are some random memories I get when I look at these pictures: Eating LOTS of cake (well, it would be more accurate if I said I was stuffing my face), speaking nonsense on your video, and the miracle that the rain cleared up. It was such a beautiful day :)
Love you both!
