Over the River and Through the Woods, to Grandmother's house we go...

So this year we got on a great track schedule for school and actually ended up with 6 weeks of summer break instead of just 3 weeks.  We  had lots of fun.  I decided to take the kids up to visit Grandma for a couple of days and enjoy the beauty of Mountain Green.
I haven't been horseback riding for at least 10 years or more, so I thought it was time to get back in the saddle again, literally.  And boy was it fun.  My mom took me on the most scenic ride ever!  It was so fun to go riding again!
Good 'ol Rico
and Dante
were playful as usual and provided a fun smooth ride.  I think once you ride a Paso Fino horse, it's hard to ride any other.  The smoothness of their walk/gate is untouched.  And you can cover the mountain side in half the time!
After an afternoon of riding, we had some dinner and I took the kids pictures.  Finally.  You would think being a photographer and all that I would have loads of pictures of my kids.  Well, I do have a lot of candids, but no formal pictures.  It was time.  Unfortunately, I haven't even had time to look at those yet, so you'll have to wait to see those.
If the kids behaved for their pictures, I promised a horseback ride after we were done.  Well it was getting a little dark, but we still went out for a ride.  I had some fun with silhouettes while the kids were taking turns on the horse...
The next morning we got up and did more horseback riding.  The kids had a great time.
I'm so lucky to have such an awesome Mom who let's us come and invade her house for days and while doing that feeds us, entertains us, and let's my kids run amuck!  Thanks Grandma!  We love you!!

How fun! That's awesome! I can't imagine having kids in school during the summer. I hear people who do, love it, but I love having a school-free summer! Glad you got to have a little bit longer break than usual.

Look at you and your wildlife photos! Geez! And I'm loving the bottom ones! Those long crops are so cool!

I'm not a wildlife/animal lover, but I did ride a horse once, and didn't hate it. That's saying a lot for me!!

Love the pictures and I like how you had to bribe your children to sit still for them with horse rides. At least you had some leverage. Gorgeous.

How fun! I think it's been about 10 years since I've been on a horse too. I need to take my kids up to our ranch and let them ride. I'm sure they'd love it. Your pictures are amazing as always. :)
